Fizwick Allspark was a famous Creek Gnome actor, Provincial Governor under the old Gnomish Hierarchy, and the founder and first King of the Kingdom of Iochand.

During his lifetime, Fizwick was involved in shaping the Creek Gnome and Iochander Lencori world, facing the theatrical world as well as the Dragonwake and the rise of Lorenan the Great’s High Kingdom of Lencenor.

Early Life[]

Born in 360, Fizwick was raised in the city of Ronroy, a gnomish settlement on the southern bank of the Portroy river. While Fizwick’s parents worked within the city’s administration, he excelled in his studies and found great joy in participating in the city’s theatre program. It is believed that the Ronroy Theatre is where he first met Erna Tonks, lifelong friend and ally. Both skilled in acting and practised in Thought philosophy of the time, they would spend decades in correspondence over their ideas.

After a decade as the star of the Ronroy Theatre, Fizwick soon was invited to a future in the great Nimsnoms Theatre in Portnamm. Here he found great popularity as an actor specialising in dramatic roles, cementing his name among the population of Portnamm and the surrounding areas. Fizwick spent decades among the theatre here.

Portroy Province[]

After many years in acting and gaining a favourable following among the citizens and gnomish upper class of Portnamm, Fizwick soon found himself in a position to petition for the newly opened role of Governor of the Portroy Province. Hierarchy administration of the province varied with distance from north to south, but the province largely included the lands between the Gnomish Pass and Middanroy river.

Fizwick soon found that his reputation exceeded even what he thought, and the position of Governor was granted to him with little competition. He soon found himself overseeing the province from the city of Norroy, twin city to Ronroy on the northern side of the Portroy river. Fizwick would appoint his friend Erna Tonks as chief diplomat between provincial administration and the Lencori tribes within the Hierarchy’s de jure borders.

The Dragonwake & The Kingdom of Iochand[]

Fizwick governed the territories of the Portroy Province well for decades, only to be interrupted by the Dragonwake spreading havoc across Cannor and beyond. In the span of weeks, reports of Kobilds on two legs spewing forth from the Dragonheight Mountains led to reports of the Gnomish Hierarchy’s heartlands being overwhelmed. With the army destroyed and no communications from Oddansbay, Fizwick found himself isolated from the capital’s command for the first time. He organised the soldiers under his command to defend the north against these Koblds, holding a defensive position near the Gnomish Pass alongside Royvibobb.

Fizwick foresaw no return for the Hierarchy after this crippling blow and believed the only option for survival was to maintain his authority over the Portroy Province. This would involve transforming the lands under his governance into a monarchy with himself as the King. Between himself, Erna Tonks, and Hierarch Cohm Midding of Portnamm, new human and gnomish regional rulers known as Graaffin would be given authority over small regions with their titles being granted to their oldest child upon their death. Some sources would identify this as an early example of feudalism in Cannor. Erna Tonks would be declared Hezoggin of Ronroy,  overseeing the Lencori tribes and Graaffin south of the Portroy river. Cohm would be granted autonomy for the Portnamm Hierarchy.

With all this in place, Fizwick declared his conversion to the pantheon of the Lencori tribes to the south, requesting a priest of Castellos to crown him. He would undergo coronation in the Nimsnoms Theatre in Portnamm using a nearly-genuine crown prop from the Nimsnoms as the first King of Iochand.

Many have outlined the fact that Fizwick had legally been declared the ‘Kong obb iochand’, roughly translating to “King of all land”, but scholars debate whether this was the result of outdated translation or an intentional attempt at comedy by Fizwick.

The Small War & The High Kingdom of Lencenor[]

With Iochand’s effective work in preventing the advance of kobold tribes along the Gnomish Pass, and a few years of stabilising the new hierarchical rule over the former Portroy Province, Fizwick capitalised on his new Kingdom’s stability to attempt to claim the title of successor of the Gnomish Hierarchy by invading the lands of the Small Province in 480. Fizwick quickly found resistance from what appeared as desperate halfling tribes when he came into conflict with Tippin of the Hillfoots, first of the Small Kings, in what would become known as The Small War. The war between Fizwick and Tippin would last all of three months, with Fizwick losing control of Turnwell and the Smallmarches while occupying Manerd. Both parties agreed to an early peace following the incursion of numerous Alenic warlords invading both kingdom’s lands.

What would become known as The Big War of 481 saw the Gawedi warlords Lodan Scalecloak and Brandon Blackstag join forces in an attempt to subjugate both Kingdoms outright. Both kingdoms were able to barely prevent further incursions from the Alenics with heavy losses. Fizwick used this period of peace to further cement his new style of rule, and he oversaw a period of reconstruction of the northern lands ravaged by fighting against kobolds and Alenics.

Renewed conflict between the Alenic tribes and the Lencori Warlords began in the early 510s, where many Lencori tribes united under the Lorenti tribe of Lorenan the Great. The Gawedi warlords saw to ally against the advances of Lorenan’s growing force, but not soon enough. In the 525, Fizwick sent an attachment of cavalry to aid Lorenan in his efforts against the Gawedi invaders, and the would play a role in the legendary Battle of Rosefield.

Following Lorenan’s return to Lorentei, and the Ruby Dwarves’ granting of the Ruby Crown by the King of Rubyhold, Lorenan was declared the first High King of Lencenor. Fizwick gladly declared fealty to Lorenan months later, believing it would help solidify his position as King over his Lencori subjects with Lorenan’s blessing. The elderly Fizwick would gain audience a few times before his passing in 552, where he was succeeded by his eldest son Royy Allspark.

Legacy[]

Fizwick Allspark is remembered as the first gnomish King across all Halcann. He established the House of Allspark, which would later be elvenized as the House síl Iochand after The Landing by his descendant King Carwick. The Kingdom of Iochand stood as one of the longest-lived early Cannorian kingdoms, lasting ~790 years under one dynasty before falling to Reverian invasion in 1264.

With Iochand dissolved, the remnants of the House of Iochand have since been scattered to the cities of Portnamm, Anbenncóst, and Gommoport. Fizwick’s Kingdom may not live on, but his descendants do.
