Laurenne Ryalan was an avatar of Ryala and the daughter of the duke of Ryalanar. She is remembered for her exquisite beauty and tragic death.
Laurenne first entered historical note when her father sought an alliance against their rival house, síl Themarenn. To determine whom would offer the best deal, the Duke created a contest between Estallen, Leslinpár, and Bennon to secure Laurenne's hand in marriage. Due to her outstanding beauty and status as an avatar, the three states sent a number of suitors and gifts to sway the Duke. However, before the Duke could decide, Laurenne fell in love with the heir of síl Bennon. Swayed by his daughter, the Duke agreed to have to have the two wed in marriage.
The celebration would be short lived as the houses of Estallen and Leslinpár, feeling spurned, were convinced by Themarenn and declared war to take back the gifts and Laurenne's hand. Soon, the keep in which Laurenne resided in was besieged and the heir síl Bennon slain in her defense. Having lost her husband and unwilling to fall into the hands of his killers, Laurenne is said to have whispered a sorrowful prayer to Esmaryal before plunging her fallen husband's blade into her own chest.
The war fought in her name would soon end is complete defeat for Ryalanar, resulting in its conquest and the independence of the Count of Konwell in 1270.
