Nimscodd, officially the Nimscodd Hierarchy, is the largest Gnomish nation in 1444, and the only one with known Imperial ambitions at the time. They were the successors of the Gnomish Hierarchy, and the remakers of it.
History[]
Nimscodd was originally a small island city inhabited by Cliff Gnomes, an oppressed type of Gnome that lived on the outskirts of society. When the Dragonwake occurred and the Kobolds flooded the land, this was forgotten. The city became home for a large amount of refugees from the Dragon Coast turning Nimscodd into the rump state of the Gnomish Hierarchy.
Over the next thousand years, Nimscodd mainly bode its time, making the islands they ended up in control of habitable and playing Gawed and Lorent off each other. Its only major accomplishment was the conquest of the Gnomish Pass in 1396, with Gawedi assistance.
Nimscodd did reclaim most of the Dragon coast, in multiple wars, and the Gnomish Hierarchy has emerged victorious over the Kobold chiefdoms. Kobold resistance has continued, with supporters coming from Kobold rights supporters, and the Hierarchy's enemies.
Other[]
The Island Fleet is the name of the Nimscodd Hierarchy's naval force that is the last remnant of the Gnomish Hierarchy's navy. Though originally a mercantile force, it was occasionally pressed into combat to defend the isle of Nimscodd.
The Nimscodd Engineering Academy is a well-known engineering academy on the island of Nimscodd, dating back to the days of the Gnomish Hierarchy. It was where the secrets of artificery were first revealed.
The Eyes of Dr. T.J. Ecklebozz were created near the end of the Gnomish Hierarchy by Dr. Torwick Jarnolt Ecklebozz, and are autonomous spyglass-equipped sentries. They are credited with saving Nimscodd from both external and internal enemies.
