The Planes of Existence is a cosmological belief held by the adherents of the Regent Court. It is the belief that the universe is split into various alternate and parallel planes of existence that can sometimes overlap and pass through each other.

List of planes[]

Core Planes / Parallel Planes[]

The Core Planes are all parallels of one another, with every planet in the Prime Material Plane being reflected by a planet in the other Core Planes. They are thought to have always existed, sometimes leaking into one another. There used to be a theory that they were created during the Day of Ashen Skies, with the Prime Material being the balanced outcome of the catastrophic event. This has since been disproved by modern scholars: Instead, the Day of Ashen Skies was responsible for the divisions between the planes being weakened, and the planes leaking into one another much more often.

  • Prime Material Plane: The primary plane of existence where Halann as we know it exists.
  • Feyrealm: A parallel version of the Prime Material Plane where positive energy (life energy) is omnipresent, causing massive overgrowth in plant and wildlife - an overabundance of life. There used to be a strong connection to the Feyrealm in Escann through the World Tree, before it was burnt by Castan Beastbane. After several centuries, the connection was reestablished on the Day of Ashen Skies, and an Archfey known as the Elder constructed the Verdant Veil out of his own essence, in order to cushion the blow as the two planes were smashed into one another.
  • Shadow Plane: A parallel version of the Prime Material Plane where negative energy (death energy) is omnipresent, causing much of the plane to be dead or in a permanent state of withering - an overabundance of death. Also serves as a transitional plane between the Fugue and the Lower Planes and serves as the main battlefield in the Eternal War.
    • Fugue Plane: The realm of the dead and domain of Nerat. Thought to be a demiplane in Cannorian Myth until 17th century Ravelian scholars dismissed that idea as demiplanes can only exist in outer planes - the later conclusion was that of the Fugue Demesne, a political entity within the Shadow Plane.

Outer Planes[]

The outer planes are less physical that the Prime Material, and travel between them is much harder to do compared to the bleeding between the Parallel Planes. Outer planes also have the ability to contain demiplanes, which are pocket planes that exist within the greater outer plane.

  • Celestial Planes: The realm of the gods, celestials and positive energy.
  • Infernal Planes: The underworld, hell, the realm of demons and devils and negative energy.
  • Elemental Planes: Realms of pure elemental dominance, the planes of Water, Earth, Fire, and Air

Energy Planes and Spirit Planes[]

Many cultures have theorized that the world is made up of four elements and two energies: Water, Earth, Fire, Air and Positive and Negative Energy. As such for much of history it was believed that there was energy planes alongside the elemental planes. In some cultures, there is also the concept of spiritual energy, which is sometimes perceived as the culmination of positive and negative energy, or the rejection of such categorization.

Modern-day thought follows Ravelian doctrine, dismissing the existence of those planes.

Separate Planes Model[]

  • Positive Energy Plane: a plane of pure positive energy, also equated to life magic or life energy and healing
  • Negative Energy Plane: a plane of pure negative energy, equated to death magic and undeath in general
  • In relation to the Feyrealm and the Shadow Plane, both are just places with a lot of bleedover as such that the Feyrealm has a massive abundance of Positive Energy

Combined Parallel Planes Model[]

This model combines the existence of the Parallel Planes and the Energy Planes into one thing.

  • The Feyrealm is the Positive Energy Plane, and there are parts of the Feyrealm that are made of pure energy
  • The Shadow Plane is the Negative Energy Plane, and same as above

Spirit Model[]

  • Spiritual energy, also known as Chi or life energy, is everpresent in both things and the world itself
  • Various religions have their own beliefs on the particulars of this concept, such as whether it comes from a Spirit Plane or from one's vitality, etc

Ravelian Model[]

  • Energy does not exist in a single plane, and is everpresent across all planes
  • Some planes have greater abundance of a particular type of energy, such as the Shadow Plane and negative energy, but it is not a bleedover from a separate plane
  • The purest places of energy is within the Empyreal, the cosmic glue and in-between place of all planes

The Eldritch Plane[]

Beyond the definitions of standard cosmology lies one plane, if one could even call it that. A plane that is there and not, that is still and moving, and that is all colours and shapes at once and none at all. A plane so alien that it does not follow the universal constant that binds even the strangeness of the other planes together, a plane that does not follow the laws of mathematics.

  • The Mosaic: the plane of eldritch madness that lies outside of "creation" and reality that seeks to corrupt and mutate all others. A plane known by many names, such of the Plane of Madness, the Far Astral, The Missing Meridian, or even the Boek Dream World among others. The original home of the Dark Descendants and other aberrations.
