Yarikhoi is a region in the Forbidden Plains, consisting of the peninsula jutting out from Haless, separated from the mainland by the eponymous three lakes. The eastern two lakes are freshwater, while the western one is saltwater and connected to the ocean via strait.
The peninsula is known for its extremely arable soil. It is very flat and heavily farmed, though there are some forests and a few small mountains. Despite the far northern location, the moderating influence of the lakes makes the temperature here relatively mild.
For much of history, the region was uninhabited. During the Forbidden Plains Exodus, three different human cultures - the Metsamic, the Zabatlar, and the Khamgunai - fled to the lakes for safety against the approaching centaur hordes. They rapidly settled and urbanized most of the peninsula, dividing into many small polities. Historically, these states were grouped into four lands based on geographical features. The peninsula is now united under the Lake Federation.
