The Twelve families of Bulwar were the patrician families that ruled the city of Bulwar for most of its history. Appearing during the establishment of the Golden Republics by the Bulwar Accord of Castanor, the number of those families was fixed to twelve in the Damerian Age. Sidelined under the Phoenix Empire and its successor Dalarand, they came back into power in the Second Cinder War (1259-1272) and endured as the dominant economic, cultural and political power of the city even after the Jadd conquest.
